Gold coin sales decline 63 pct in May-July period


Gold coin sales for the May-July period declined by 63 percent to 995,520 thousand units this year compared to the same period last year. The amount of gold coins minted over the last month recorded a gradual reduction of 80.3 percent. According to data released by the General Directorate of Minting and Printing, 2.74 million units of gold coins were minted in the May-July period last year. In the same period of this year the amount of gold coins fell by 63.6 percent to 995,520 units. The sharp decline in gold production occurred last month, when gold prices saw historical rises.
