Wall Street closes higher with oil, retailer gains


Wall Street closed higher Thursday with rising oil prices and major American retailers' stocks making gains.

The Dow added 14 points to end the day at 20,662 and the S&P 500 rose four points to 2,357.

The Nasdaq increased 14 points to finish the day at 5,878.

American retailers Costco and Target saw their stock price rise 1.8 percent and 1.6 percent, respectively.

At the final bell, American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was trading at $51.70 per barrel with a 1.1 percent gain. International benchmark Brent crude was at $54.84 with a 0.9 percent increase.

The market and investors are focused on job gains and the unemployment rate for March to be announced on Friday.
