Forum Istanbul 2017 to discuss Turkey's future
Setting out with the motto "Building Tomorrow - 2023 Vision," and aiming to contribute to Turkey's dream of becoming a strong country not only in its region but in the world, Forum Istanbul 2017 will discuss change and transformation on May 4-5.
With President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expected to participate as an honorary guest, various topics, such as the future of the global economy, the post-Brexit period, anti-globalization and protectionist trade policies, the reforms required for more extensive growth and economic stability in Turkey, will be discussed.
One of the topics that the forum will open up to discussion is Turkey's export performance and its export goals for 2023.
Speaking at the meeting held for the promotion of this year's event, the chairman of the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TİM), Mehmet Büyükekşi, said that Forum Istanbul talks have been organized since 2003 in association with TİM.
Büyükekşi stressed that Turkey has important goals to realize before the centennial of the Turkish Republic and he said that the aim is to secure 1.5 percent of global trade.
The Forum Istanbul session on Turkey's exports will provide a general framework on Turkish exports and it will evaluate 2017, which has been declared "a leap year" in exports by TİM.
The second day of the meetings will stage discussions on the Turkish Wealth Fund and its contributions to the Turkish economy as well as international investment funds. The global energy outlook, energy investment strategies and renewable energies will also be handled on the second day of the talks.
The referendum earned Turkey a great deal of timeSpeaking at the same meeting, Yavuz Canevi, chairman of Türkiye Ekonomi Bankası and president of Forum Istanbul, highlighted that the referendum has earned Turkey a great deal of time while the world is about to be torn amid conflicting discussions of globalization and protectionism.
This time advantage will enable Turkey to determinedly walk toward its 2023 vision, Canevi claimed.
"Turkey should progress toward 2023 without any divergence from its goal. The constitutional referendum has now provided a predictable future for Turkey and paved the way for accomplishing its goals," he expressed.
