Turkey and Russia will hold talks on the remaining "sensitive" economic issues between the two countries during the Izmir International Fair, Russian Deputy Economic Development Minister Alexei Gruzdev said Tuesday.
The 86th Izmir International Fair will take place in the western Turkish city of Izmir between August 18 and 27. This year Russia will participate in the event for the first time as a partner country.
"There may be new areas for cooperation. And, of course, with our partners from the Ministry of Economy of Turkey, we will be resolving all the remaining sensitive issues," Gruzdev said on the sidelines of the 2017 "Summer Davos" held in the northeast Chinese city of Dalian.
A number of round tables on various areas of cooperation, including agriculture and mechanical engineering, will be held during the fair, Gruzdev said, adding that Russian economic development and industry and trade ministries were jointly preparing a national exposition and a business program.
"There is a mutual interest [of Russia and Turkey] in trade and investments in different sectors," Gruzdev said.
The Izmir International Fair is the oldest tradeshow in Turkey, and considered to be the cradle of Turkey's fairs and expositions industry. The event aims to develop foreign economic activities of the country, establish new business contacts, and develop investments and innovations. The topic for 2017 fair is "Innovation – Energy."
