With a 7.5 percent growth in the third quarter, Turkey will rank second in the world, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci said Saturday, stressing that credit rating agencies can't even find the time to renew their estimates about Turkey.

Attending his party's sixth ordinary district congress at the Acıpayam Talip Özkan Art Center in Denizli on Saturday, Minister Zeybekci said that Turkey's goals of becoming one of the top 10 economies in the world and the top three economies in Europe by 2023 will surely be achieved.

Indicating that, despite the July 15 failed coup attempt, Turkey grew by 2.9 percent in 2016, Zeybekci said that the country is the third fastest growing country in the world at the moment, stressing that it has a chance of being second in the third quarter of this year.

The economy minister also pointed out that Turkey was listed as the 13th largest economy in the world in the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) report, which was announced last week and shows countries' economic growth.

"Turkey is now the 13th largest economy in the world. We passed Spain, too. Turkey is the fifth largest economy in Europe," he said.

Zeybekci stated that even credit rating agencies can't find the time to renew their estimates about Turkey. Recalling that some said Turkey's 2017 growth will be 2 percent, 2.8 percent, 3 percent, and 3.1 percent, he noted that they once renewed it to 3.5 percent and now once again to 4 percent, adding that it will not be enough.

"It is 5 percent in the first quarter. We ranked third in the world despite last year's betrayal and the circle of fire surrounding us. It will be slightly above 5 percent at around 5.1 percent and 5.5 percent in the second quarter," Zeybekci said, suggesting that Turkey will grow by around 7.5 percent in the third quarter, putting it in second place in the world.

"The year-end will be a spectacular result. We will break our historical record in exports in 2017," he added.
