Exports in TL soar by 118 pct during January-July period


Exports in the Turkish lira soared by 118 percent in the first seven months of the year compared to the same period last year, reaching $8.987 billion, while imports in the same currency rose by 31 percent to $10.282 billion.

According to Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) data, exports exceeded $90 billion and imports exceeded $129 billion from January to July.

Exports in the Turkish lira from January to July soared by 118 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching $8.987 billion from $4.119 billion. A total of $42.452 billion in total exports were carried out in euros, $35.384 billion in dollars and $2.597 billion in pounds.The use of the Turkish lira in imports surged by 31 percent in the first seven months of the year, reaching $10.282 billion from $7.858 billion in the same period last year. A total of $75.49 billion in total imports in this period were conducted in dollars, $41.451 billion in euros and $1.525 billion in Swiss francs.
