Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said yesterday that the 2018-2020 Medium-Term Program would be announced by Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the Under Secretariat of the Treasury yesterday, "The government's medium-term program covering the period of 2018-2020 will be announced by Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek on Wednesday, Sept. 27 during a press conference." Finance Minister Naci Ağbal and Development Minister Lütfi Elvan will also attend the press conference, the statement indicated.

Responding to questions regarding the national economic agenda during a joint broadcast on Turkish TV channels yesterday, Prime Minister Yıldırım said Turkey's economic growth is expected to be at 5.5 percent for 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, indicating that the government will implement measures to ensure steady growth.

Yıldırım also said that the rate of unemployment in the medium-term is estimated to be 10.8 percent by the end of this year, 10.5 percent next year, 9.9 percent in 2019 and 9.6 percent in 2020.

After seeing an unemployment rate of 9.5 percent this year, the prime minister said that inflation is expected to fall to 7 percent next year, 6 percent in 2019 and 5 percent in 2020. Prime Minister Yıldırım also announced that the government could appoint a new CEO to oversee the Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) in the coming days, as SWF CEO Mehmet Bostan was removed from his position in early September.
