Three Turkish universities rank among world’s top 500


Three Turkish universities, Bilkent, Boğaziçi and Middle East Technical University, has been listed among the top 500 universities in the world, according to the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) educational institution service's University Subject Rankings List published on Tuesday.Both Bilkent and Boğaziçi universities ranked 399th in the list as Bilkent climbed 40 places and Boğaziçi climbed 60 places since last year. Another five Turkish universities, Istanbul Technical University, Koç, Sabancı, Hacettepe and Istanbul University, made it into the top 700.As QS gave Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) a perfect score of 100, putting the school in first place for the third year in a row, University of Cambridge and Imperial College London came in second and third place, respectively, with Harvard University and Oxford University coming in fourth and fifth place.British Quacquarelli Symonds, annually rates over 800 universities around the world, six criterions are used to determine the top universities being; academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international student ratio and international staff ratio.
