Science body to boost e-learning

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), the state-run science and research body, will introduce new incentives for e-learning material producers. In a move to further expand e-learning capabilities to bring Turkish education up-to-date with technology, TÜBİTAK will provide funding for digital content producers that specialize in e-learning for university students and postgraduate students. The project aims to provide 5,000 different digital e-learning content books and 5,000 academic e-books. The deadline for applicants producing e-learning materials and seeking funding is Dec. 31. Throughout the project, Turkish e-learning resources will be increased, and academics will be encouraged to pen academic e-books in Turkish whose number and diversity is currently limited. TÜBİTAK will pay up to TL 120,000 ($54,096) for e-books and digital e-learning content, in addition to royalties to publishers and authors. Seeking to promote e-learning, Turkey introduced the Fatih Project this year, which delivered electronic tablets to grade school students.
