Members of a nongovernmental organization (NGO) in eastern Turkey have repaired a terror-hit building and turned it into a school in Syria's al-Bab. Mustafa Güvenli, head of the Erzurum Civil Society Platform (ESTP), said in a written statement that they have turned the building, that was destroyed by bombardments, into a school.

The northern Syrian region was cleared from terrorists during Turkey's Operation Euphrates Shield. The operation, which began on Aug. 24, 2016 and ended in March 2017, aimed to eliminate the terrorist threat along the border in the northern Syrian regions of Jarabulus, al-Rai, al-Bab and Azaz through the help of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) backed by Turkish artillery and air cover.

Stating that they named the school Erzurum Secondary School, Güvenli said: "As the ESTP, we have repaired the school where a thousand students receive education. A new era has begun in Syria's al-Bab," he added.

He also expressed gratitude for having the opportunity to contribute to the process as the ESTP, adding: "As the [Turkish] nation, we have brought love, peace and knowledge to every place we have gone throughout history. The people of al-Bab have also expressed special interest and love for Turkey and the Turkish people because of the peace brought to the region by Turkish soldiers."
