MHP loses its 20-year stronghold to the AK Party
KASTAMONU — The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has lost its stronghold of 20 years in Kastamonu to the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party.According to the unofficial results, AK Party candidate Tahsin Babaş came out the victor by 424 votes against MHP's candidate in the party's long-standing fortress of Kastamonu, located in Turkey's Black Sea region.Babaş, who is a 47 year-old father of one and a construction technician, beat out MHP's candidate Hayati Hamzaoğlu, thereby securing the AK Party's leadership in Kastamonu, where MHP has upheld the vote for the past 20 years.
