President Erdoğan: Our nation's will is above everything else


Turkey's President Erdoğan made his first remarks regarding the results of June 7 parliamentary elections on Monday, stating that the nation's will is above everything else.Erdoğan noted that the high turnout rate signified Turkish people's determination in democracy, and congratulated election bodies and security forces for their conduct and handling of the elections.He acknowledged that no party had won an overall majority and said this was a "real and healthy" reflection of the election race."I believe that the current situation that does not enable any party to form a majority government, and this will be evaluated in a sound and realistic manner by all parties who took part in the election race" Erdoğan said."In this new process, it is of great importance that all the political forces show responsible behavior and the necessary sensitivity to preserve the atmosphere of stability and confidence in our country and our democratic achievements," the Turkish President said.Analysts say a coalition, a minority government and early elections are all possibilities, in a situation unprecedented since the AK Party came to power in 2002.
