Naysayers promise fear, chaos: PM Yıldırım
Prime Minister and the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Chairman Binalı Yıldırım has criticized the "no" campaigners (naysayers) as fearmongering, saying that they can only promise fear, chaos and pessimism.
Speaking at the central Anatolian province of Yozgat in a party rally for the upcoming April 16 referendum, Yıldırım slammed the "no" camp for spreading fear.
"What are they promising? Only fear, chaos and pessimism. Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kılıçdaroğlu tells coffee shop owners that their businesses will be closed if the "yes" vote wins and suggest them not to vote in its favor. He told village headsmen that they will be got rid of if "yes" prevailed in the referendum. He tells businessman that their factories and properties will be nationalized. These are all baseless lies. Kılıçdaroğlu tells a tall tale," he said. Yıldırım also criticized the pro-PKK Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) for taking orders from the Qandil Mountains in northern Iraq, where PKK headquarters are based."The HDP is under the commands of the PKK. They gave away people's votes as gift to the PKK." Yıldırım said.
He also criticized that the CHP and the HDP for acting like soulmates.
"Even though they pretend like they don't know each other, the HDP and the CHP have linked their arms together and are working to boost the ‘no' votes."
Reiterating his warning to some European countries to not meddle with Turkey's internal politics, Yıldırım said, "European countries please mind your own business. Don't interfere in Turkey's internal affairs. Are you trying to win elections by using Turkey? This is bad policy," he said. "Their [European countries] real intention is different. They are trying to prevent Turkey's development." Yıldırım added.
