Turkey to purchase natural gas via Ukraine

Speaking to Russian news agency RIA Novosti, Igor Prokopiv, the president of the Ukrainian Public Joint Stock Company (PJSC) Ukrtransgaz, said: "Turkey and Bulgaria want to purchase natural gas from other European countries through Ukraine."

According to RIA Novosti, Igor Prokopiv suggested that Turkey and Bulgaria would use Ukraine as a transit country to purchase natural gas from some European countries.

Stating that negotiations in early April, Ukrtransgaz President Prokopiv said: "The discussion will be on a system in which the gas purchased from Europe will arrive in Turkey through Slovakia, following a route through Ukraine, Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria."

Ukrtransgaz is engaged in the transmission and storage of natural gas in Ukraine, and announced that Ukraine purchased nearly 2.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Europe during the first two months of 2016.
