French nuclear giant Assystem acquires 51 pct of Turkish firm
France's global nuclear engineering services provider, Assystem, has acquired 51 percent of Envy, Turkey's first nuclear power plant field engineering company.
The particulars of the partnership were announced at the 4th International Nuclear Power Plants Summit.
According to a joint statement released by the two companies, French Assystem, the second largest nuclear engineering services company in the world, has joined hands with Envy, which has conducted field engineering studies of nuclear power plant projects in Akkuyu and Sinop, with a view to evaluate opportunities in Turkey and the regional market.
Envy's Business Development Director Alper Yahşi, whose views were cited in the joint statement, emphasized that Assystem has showed its confidence in Turkey and Turkish engineering services with the purchase, adding that they were going to work together to bring their expertise to the international arena.
Yahşi said that the deal would pave the way for Assystem to transfer its global knowledge and experience to the Turkish market.
"We now have the opportunity to present our services abroad, including Europe, and we can take part in projects in Turkey at a very advanced stage," he said.
Assystem ET & I Senior Vice President Thomas Branche said that they wanted to be the biggest nuclear engineering company to support Turkey's nuclear program in digital technologies, and added that they aspire to witness the establishment of one of Turkey's leading companies in the fields of digital technologies, security and cyber security.
