Against the backdrop of political tensions between Turkey and Germany, the companies of both countries continue to partner up in a very important sector like energy.

Turkish energy firm Prime Enerji A.Ş announced yesterday it has signed an agreement with Germany-based InTEC Energy Solutions to establish a 14-megawatt solar power plant in southwestern Turkey's Denizli.

The company in a statement said, "Prime Enerji and InTec Energy Solutions have come to terms with Bereket Energy for the installation of a solar power plant."

The statement indicated that the project will have a total installed capacity of 14 megawatts. In the first phase of the project, the plant will generate 4 megawatts by the end of the year.

A total of 52,335 solar panels and 13 central inverters will be used in the plant located in Denizli's Çeltikçi region. The entire engineering, installation, procurement, electrical and civil works of the project will be undertaken by Prime Enerji and InTEC Energy Solutions.

In addition, the statement said that agreements were also signed between the two companies for another project in eastern Turkey's Erzurum. The total generation capacity of the Erzurum project will be around 11.8 megawatts peak (MWp).

In early August, German giant Siemens also won the contract for a 1,000 MW wind power project with its two Turkish partners Türkerler and Kalyon. The tender for the project resulted in a world-record feed-in-tariff at $3.48, which is expected to decrease energy import dependence totaling $55 billion per year and reduce electricity prices. This German-Turkish energy partnership has been construed as the failure of attempts by German ministers to extend the impact of recently strained political ties to economic realms.
