Wind power financing negotiations continue with foreign banks

Türkerler Holding A.Ş. Energy Group Vice President Saygın Oytan said that they have been conducting serious studies on the financing of the Renewable Energy Resource Areas (YEKA) wind project that they won with their partners, Siemens and Kalyon Holding.

"We have been involved in various initiatives abroad. We have obtained confirmation from the foreign banks for the financing of the project that we won. There is no problem with the financing of the project," he asserted.

Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA) at the 6th Turkish Wind Energy Congress organized by the Turkish Wind Energy Association, Oytan touched on the developments regarding the financing of Turkey's first large-scale wind energy project.

Noting that they have been involved in various initiatives abroad and that they have obtained confirmation from foreign banks regarding the financing of the project, Oytan said as a result of contacts made with European commercial banks, eximbanks, with the support of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, there is no problem regarding the financing of the project, highlighting that this is a major development for the YEKA wind project.

In a 1,000-megawatt (MW) YEKA wind tender, which was carried out by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in early August, the Siemens Gamesa-Türkerler-Kalyon Energy consortium achieved a world record in its field with a price of $3.48 per kilowatt hour (pKh).

An investment exceeding $1 billion must be realized by the winning consortium within the scope of the tender, including the establishment of a wind energy plant to encourage domestic production.
