In the context of the 2nd Stork and Wildlife Festival which is being held in İzmir's Selçuk district, a walking event on the holy route of Artemis was held on the opening day.

Organized to promote the ecological richness of the district while shining the spotlight on global climate change, the festival started with a conversation titled, "On the trace of the aqueducts" held by Turkish historian, Tolga Mert.

Starting from the Station Square, where the festival is being held, participants walked through the holy site of Artemis.

Justice and Development Party (AK Party) İzmir deputy Mahmut Atilla Kaya gave a speech after the walk, stating that the Selçuk district has begun to regain its reputation as a historical place as a result of projects launched by the government.

Stressing that they will conduct studies to further develop the district's potential for tourism, Kaya said, "While we continue to conduct studies amid efforts to bring more tourists to Turkey, unfortunately, some politicians are trying to defame our country in terms of tourism, advising some not to visit Turkey amid security concerns. However, politics must be focused on serving the public."

On the second day of the festival a ceramic sculpture workshop will be organized, as well as a cycling tour in the wetlands, various concerts and an event titled, "Stories from the Stork's Wing."
