President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan condemned racially charged mosque attacks in Germany and Sweden, speaking on a panel "A new Turkey" organized by the Confederation of Public Servants' Trade Unions (Memur-sen) on Friday. "There is no old Turkey, only the new Turkey. We have made great progress so far and will move forward. Europe should cope with increasing racism instead of criticizing [Turkey]. Some racist graffiti were painted on the walls of a half-built mosque in Germany. They want to stop the construction of that mosque. Where is Europe's freedom of religion? If something like this happened in Turkey, they would set the world on fire against us. We, as Turkey, support their restoration of [old religious places]," he said.
