German police justify men who tied Iraqi refugee to tree

After a video surfaced of three men zip-tying an Iraqi refugee to a tree, a district police chief told Suddeutsche Zeitung it was a necessary move as the refugee was mentally ill and becoming aggressive. "It is hard for me to say this, but I have to assume that the actions of those men were right," Conny Stiehl said. According to media reports, the 21-year-old Iraqi was arguing with supermarket employees over a defective phone card on May 21 in Arnsdorf when three men stormed in, took him outside and zip-tied him to a tree.
