Military helicopter crashes in Montenegro

A Montenegrin military helicopter has crashed on the outskirts of the capital injuring two crew members, one seriously.

Associated Press reporters at the scene said the aircraft didn't catch fire as it crashed Friday in a field southwest of Podgorica.

Eyewitness Rasim Softic says: "I heard a sound and came out and saw a helicopter trying to land. Then it crashed."

Local people pulled out the two crew members, of whom one was unconscious, before ambulances arrived.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the SA341 Gazelle helicopter to go down.

The tiny state, which is slated to become NATO's newest member, has a small air force that includes five Gazelle helicopters which were made in former Yugoslavia under a French license.
