German police on Wednesday arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion that he was planning a bomb attack, local authorities said.

"There are suspicions that an explosive attack was being prepared," said a spokeswoman for the regional government of Brandenburg.

The man is suspected of planning an attack with a terrorist motive in Eisenhuettenstadt, a town near the Polish border, Brandenburg's state premier Dietmar Woitke said.Security sources told DPA the man had been planning an explosives attack at a local festival in the town, which is scheduled to take place on August 26-28.A police spokesman in Frankfurt an der Oder, a city of just north of Eisenhuettenstadt, said explosives had been found in the man's home after a search with sniffer dogs. He added that the man was a German national.Germany suffered two attacks claimed by Daesh terrorist organization in July -- an axe rampage on a train in Wuerzburg and a suicide bombing in Ansbach.

In Wuerzburg, the 17-year-old attacker was shot dead by police after injuring five people. In Ansbach, 15 people were injured after a failed Syrian asylum seeker detonated an explosive device outside a music festival, killing himself.
