Iraqi refugee at Berlin shelter killed by police

A 29-year-old man has been shot dead by police after an argument between two residents at a refugee shelter in Berlin, a police spokesperson said late Tuesday.Police shot the Iraqi man when he lunged with a knife at a 27-year-old Pakistani resident, who was being led out of the facility in handcuffs by police.According to witnesses, the man had sexually assaulted a young girl, believed to be the daughter of the 29-year-old.As he was being moved into a police vehicle, the witnesses said, the father of the girl attempted to knife the Pakistani, yelling "You won't survive this" before being shot multiple times by police.The Iraqi died some hours later in hospital while the 27-year-old is being investigated over the abuse allegations.The child is receiving counselling, police said.
