‘Overslept:’ Berlin police department robbed of historical items

Unknown thieves robbed the Berlin Police Department late Monday, the department said Tuesday as an investigation was launched.

According to the German capital's police, the thief or thieves stole some historical military items as well as honorary medals and brooches of former police officers.

The police said those responsible for the robbery made their way into the building at night after cutting the metal cage on one of the building's windows.

The victims of the robbery said that the items that were stolen, including orders of merit, helmets and rank badges, were not worth much.

When sharing information about the incident on social media, the Berlin Police Department titled the post as "The thing we have totally overslept."
