A railway station and 12 shopping malls in Moscow were evacuated on Wednesday after anonymous tip-offs were called in about bomb threats, the RIA news agency reported, citing emergency services.

Nearly 4,000 people were evacuated across the city, including 1,500 from the Gagarinsky mall.

Police officers and search dogs are currently working at all of the sites.

A security services official later told RIA that all the calls were made from outside Russia.

A wave of anonymous tip-offs about bomb threats in malls, railway stations and administrative buildings hit Russia in fall 2017. Nearly 2,500 buildings in 170 cities across the country were said to be threatened. All of the calls — that prompted evacuations of hundreds of thousands of people — proved to be hoaxes.
