Taksim Trio to take stage with world-renowned stars

Zorlu Center will welcome Istanbul's popular Taksim Trio on Feb. 28 at the shopping center's Performing Arts Center accompanied by Dorantes, Carles Benavent and Trilok Gurtu. All brought up in the Romani culture of Istanbul, the bond between in-demand clarinet virtuoso Hüsnü Senlendirici, acoustic and electric long-neck baglama player Ismail Tunçbilek and Aytaç Dogan on the zither-like kanun makes for true magic, blending classic eastern music with modern melodies. Trio will be performing a special concert along with flamenco-jazz star Dorantes; legendary flamenco bassist Carles Benavent, who worked with the likes of Chik Corea, Paco De Lucia and Arif Mardin; and Trilok Gurtu, the great Indian percussionist. Taksim Trio's musical approach is greatly influenced by Istanbul's position as the bridge between the East and the West, both historically and musically. The band molds jazz and classical styles into traditional patterns. The product is exceptionally fluidand melodic and fresh each time. The special show named "Istanbul Experience with Dorantes, Carles Benavent and Trilok Gurtu" will offer a night on the backstreets of Beyoglu and through time.
