Franz Marc was born in Germany in 1880. He is one of the most important representatives of the expressionist movement in 20th century Germany and the co-founder of "The Blue Rider" group with August Macke. "The Large Blue" (1911), which represents Marc's own belief in the supremacy of animal spirituality over that of humans', is regarded as one of his best works.
