Necip Fazıl Kısakürek awards to be presented on Sunday


For the first time, literary awards will be given in the honor of Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, who marked the thought and literary world with his works. The presentation of the Necip Fazıl Awards will become a traditional practice to maintain the cultural and sentimental legacy of the renowned Turkish poet. The Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Award Ceremony will take place on Nov. 2 at the Istanbul Haliç Congress Center Sadabad Hall, and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will attend the event. Jury members, including Rasim Özdenören, Beşir Ayvazoğlu, Hicabi Kırlangıç and poet Osman Konuk along with Professor Turan Karataş and Professor M. Fatih Andı, studied published poems, short stories, novels, essays and opinions. The members of the jury decided to present a "Necip Fazıl Honoree Award" to Edebiyat Magazine (a literature magazine) founder Nuri Pakdil for his literary works and contributions, while a "Necip Fazıl Poetry Award" will be given to Hüseyin Atlansoy for his book "Karşılama Töreni" (Welcome Ceremony). Güray Süngü will receive a "Necip Fazıl Short Story Award" for his book "Hiçbir Şey Anlatmayan Hikâyelerin İkincisi," and a "Necip Fazıl Research Award" will be given to Professor Gülru Necipoğlu of Harvard University for her "Sinan Çağı" (The Age of Sinan) study and Professor İsmail Erünsal for "Osmanlılarda Sahaflık ve Sahaflar" (Second Hand book Trade and Bibliopoles in the Ottoman Empire).
