Turkish artist focuses on cats’ behaviors
Cats wander around in our lives carelessly. To read a cat's mind requires attention and some time. Feridun Oral's exhibition "Catrospective" is a project on the cats in our lives. Born in Kırıkkale in 1961, Oral graduated from Marmara University's Faculty of Fine Arts in 1985. His paintings and illustrations have been showcased in numerous local and international exhibitions and biennials since 1986. He was granted the Runner-Up Prize for his illustrated book "Ormandaki Ses" (The Voice in the Forrest) in 1993 at the NOMA-Concours competition organized by UNESCO in Tokyo. He also won the European Illustrators' Biennial Honor Award for his work "Düş Kedileri" (Dream Cats) in 2001. His illustrated books have been also published by local and foreign publishers. Oral, transfers his expressions in painting to ceramic work and continues to produce art in his workshop in Istanbul.
