Mokhtar film competition continues with theme of ‘Tell us about Prophet Muhammad’

Mokhtar Awards, an annual Muslim film competition and festival, gives everyone -Muslim or not- the chance to express themselves about Islam and Prophet Muhammad through a short video required to be sent until December 15, 2015. The film festival, promoting the values of Islam, continues in 2015, this time by focusing exclusively on the Prophet with the theme "Tell us about the Prophet." Cash prizes will be awarded to the top-three competitors. The winner will receive a prize of 3,000 Euro, while the second will be awarded 2,000 Euro and the third, 1,000 Euro. The film festival says on its website: "The events of January 2015 [Charlie Hebdo shooting] have long questioned us, and we have been slow in deciding how to debate the Prophet image without provocation"."This is our challenge for this new edition: 'Tell us about the Prophet' will be the theme of Mokhtar 2015. Muslims or not, take your camera and express yourself."The film festival aims to wipe away the negative image of Islam portrayed on media, especially in Europe, with the governments attacking the religion from all angles. The film festival thereby gives everyone the chance to oppose the misrepresentation of Islam through a short movie focusing on what the Prophet means for the person. "In the Muslim tradition, Prophet Muhammad was chosen for his qualities, his kindness, his sense of responsibility and trust, which is far from the image portrayed by specific media outlets, authors or artists," the festival says on its website. There is also a promotional video on the festival's website, inspired by a true story that occurred after the Charlie Hebdo demonstrations in Paris on 11 January 2015. The film portrays the "post-Charlie" attitude in France which has since been growing and transforming the country, and even the world.
