Franco-American music group Moriarty on Istanbul stage

Akbank Jazz Festival will present the five-member music collective Moriarty with French, American, Swiss and Vietnamese origins. The ensemble takes its name from the Dean Moriarty character of Jack Kerouac's well-known novel "On the Road." Engaging in American-Irish folk music, Moriarty writes songs reminiscent of Kurt Weill's musicals. They will perform their latest album, "Epitaph," in Istanbul. The ensemble features Rosemary Moriarty on guitar and lead vocals, Charles Moriarty on electric guitar, Arthur Moriarty on keyboards and guitar, Thomas Moriarty on accordion and jew's harp and Zim Moriarty on double bass and guitar. Moriarty performs everywhere from large concert halls to street corners and even bookshops where they give acoustic concerts. Where: Oct. 22When: Babylon Bomonti Stage
