Colorful melodies and lives of gypsies on stage


The unique Budapest Gypsy Symphony Orchestra, one of the prominent gypsy orchestras of the world, will enchant Istanbulites on Nov. 21 at Ülker Sports Arena. Founded in 1985, the Budapest Gypsy Symphony Orchestra is a world-renowned classical symphony orchestra performing the compositions of Liszt, Bartõk, Kodaly, Hubay, Erkel, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Sarasate and Strauss. Apart from the classics, the orchestra also plays traditional gypsy music as well as folk songs. The orchestra performed an impromptu concert at the funeral of Hungarian gypsy violinist Sandor Jaroka before they officially got together and caught the eye of music critics. Since 1985, the Budapest Gypsy Symphony Orchestra which won various international music awards has taken the stage on five continents.
