Tolerance reflected through the eyes of young photographers


Photographs with the theme "tolerance," which were taken by young photographers about Istanbul, the Islamic World Youth Capital, will be displayed from Dec. 16 to Dec. 25 at Taksim Cumhuriyet Art Gallery.Co-organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), along with the affiliated Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation, and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), "Photo for Tolerance" will also feature a photograph competition. The award ceremony for the international youth photograph competition, whose theme is "dialogue, tolerance and youth," will take place on Dec. 21 in Istanbul, the area of which has been the capital of various civilizations throughout history. The winners of the competition will be chosen following the evaluation of a including Behiç Günalan, Cengiz Karlıova, Ersin Alok, Musa Akgül, Neslihan Yazıcılar, Sevinj İskenderova and Ümit Karlı. The winner of the competition will receive $2,500, second place will receive $1,200 and third place will receive $800. Moreover, one of the photographers will be presented with an OIC Youth Capital an honorable mention award.The "Photo for Tolerance" competition is one of the events that will be organized as a part of the Islamic World Youth Capital program. The event, which will take place for the first time, aims to look out for the interests of young people, achieve sustainable development, support academic and continuous education, contribute to the ethic development of the new generation and create a bridge of dialogue between cultures and civilizations. Young photographers from a total of 57 countries who are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will participate in the competition with photographs of Istanbul and its heritage, focusing on the themes "peace, tolerance, solidarity, justice, universality and mercy."
