Norwegian musicians to jazz up Ramadan


Jon Balke, who performed an unforgettable concert in 2013 in Istanbul, returns to the city with his newest project Siwan for Jazz in Ramadan. With Balke on percussion and keyboard, Mouna Boutchebak vocals, Snorre Bjerck on percussion and guitarist Cenk Erdoğan, the ensemble performs today in the Sakıp Sabancı Museum. Known for the Magnetic Northern Orchestra, Norwegian jazz pianist and composer Jon Georg Balke kicked off his musical career as a pianist and has collaborated with various bands and musicians since he was 18 years old. He launched his solo career in the mid-1980s and became one of the leading jazz composers in Norway. After 1989, Balke began to focus on his own projects, including the Magnetic Northern Orchestra.
