Woodwind fest to host oboist David Walter


The Istanbul Woodwind Festival, organized by the Istanbul Clarinet Association with contributions from Kadıköy Municipality, will be held until July 3 at Caddebostan Cultural Center. Oboist David Walter, who is also a composer and conductor, will give an oboe recital. During the concert, Walter will be accompanied by pianist Zümrüt Alieva. Walter was awarded the "premier prix" by the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris, and is considered one of the leading contemporary oboists. He earned international recognition after winning competitions held in Munich, Prague, Geneva, Belgrade and Ancona. As a music instructor he has taught master classes in more than 40 countries. From 1997 to 2009, he worked as an instructor of oboe and chamber music at the Guildhall School of Music in London.
