Bozlu Art Project, which is located in Istanbul's Nişantaşı, defies cliches and is holding a group exhibition titled "Fear" open until Aug. 31 despite the slow art scene during summer.

Curated by Özlem İnay Erten, the exhibition featuring work from 12 artists belonging to different disciplines created around the theme of fear. Fear is a theme that has affected artists and their work since the first came to exist. The need to define or describe, or even overcome fear has inspired artists and encourages them to question for centuries. From cave paintings to the masks of several primitive societies, from Edvard Munch's "Scream" to Goya's "The Third of May 1808," fear is a subject that can be seen in countless works of art throughout history. This is a situation that is still effectual. Our fears are still affecting all features of life and they affect the artwork of our times, too.

Bozlu Art Project's "Fear" aims to display fear's effect on the individual as well as social life by gathering the work from 12 artists who is asking questions about researching this individual and sociological feeling: What is fear? Is it describable? How can it be concretized? What does it affect? Even more, is it possible to express or overcome fear by art?

The works of artists Ali Alışır, Beyza Boynudelik, Aydın Büyüktaş, Hakan Çınar, Evren Erol, Nur Gürel, Tülay İçöz, Kazım Karakaya, Çağatay Odabaş, Meliha Sözeri, Özer Toraman and Semih Zeki will be on display at Bozlu Art Projects exhibition venue in Nişantaşı throughout summer.
