Mozart's opera 'Cosi Fan Tutte' comes to theater screen


The collaboration between London's Royal Opera House and Zorlu Performing Arts Center brings highly esteemed and anticipated productions on stage for Istanbulites throughout the season. The first show to be featured as part of the series will be Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's classic opera "Cosi Fan Tutte" on Dec.1. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is one of the most brilliant and important composers of music and opera the world has ever seen. Unfortunately, he only had 35 years on this earth.The opera was first performed only a year before Mozart's death in 1790 in Vienna. "Cosi Fan Tutte", which belongs to rococo era, managed to attract the interest of the audience around the world thanks to its controversial theme. The opera focuses on the relationship between men and women, which has been one of the most important debates since Adam and Eve. Mozart's compositions are accompanied by the libretto of Lorenzo Da Ponte, who also wrote "The Marriage of Figaro" and "Don Giovanni," and two sopranos as well as a bass and a tenor. Russian maestro Semyon Bychkov conducts the orchestra while 35-year-old director Jan Philipp Gloger put the opera on stage. The cast of the opera, which stood out with their performance at Bayreuth Festival, is young and energetic.
