!f to screen film on women's lives

The !f Istanbul Independent Film Festival continues to screen the best examples of world cinema. Tonight, Kelly Reichardt's 2016 film "Certain Women" will be screened at Cinemaximum Kanyon at 9:30 p.m. "Certain Women" recounts the stories of three very different women who have no connection whatsoever with each other. Laura is a hardworking lawyer taken hostage by a client who believes he has been treated unfairly. Gina is working hard to own her dream house where she'd live with her husband and daughter, but it's hard to ignore the tensions brewing within the family. A young woman working at the stables in a small town falls in love with another woman who teaches law: It could be love, or a very emotional and strange friendship. "Certain Women" feels like a poem.Director Reichardt tells the story in slow motion like a dream without trying to reach a final conclusion. In Reichardt's dream, the women desperately want to connect to each other and work very hard for it; however, they want to be left alone at the same time. With vast landscapes and an incredible team of actresses, "Certain Women" is an open-ended meditation on female vulnerability and resilience, and the desolate geography between the two. When: FridayWhere: Cinemaximum Kanyon, Istanbul
