Konya to host international theater festival


Hosted by the State Theater of Konya, the 10th "Thousand Breaths One Voice" International Turkish-Speaking Countries Theater Festival will kick off on April 20 with "Fatih the Conqueror," the much praised play that premiered at the beginning of the season, telling the story of Fatih the Conqueror during the conquest of Constantinople.

Bringing together productions form Turkish speaking countries, this year's program includes 11 plays, six from Turkey from the State Theaters of Konya, Istanbul, Sivas, İzmir and Van and five from abroad including Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Gagauzia and will last till April 30.

The festival will welcome "Hamlet" from Kazakhstan, "Kiss" from Bulgaria," "Seduction" from Turkish Republic of North Cyprus and "Kill Me Darling" from Gagauzia. The Konya State Theater will be putting on "Fatih the Conqueror" and the children's play "Sayı Dedektifleri" (Number Detectives), while Istanbul State Theater will play "Giydirici" (Dresser), Sivas will play "39 Basamak" (39 Steps), İzmir will play "Ermişler ya da Günahkarlar" (Saints or Sinners) and Van will play "Yedekçi ("Tower") on stage.
