Exhibition questions representation women in art

One of the leading exhibition halls in Istanbul, UNIQ Gallery will be exploring negative and sexist attitudes many people had to suffer within art history with "Whose (Art) History?" exhibition taking place from now until May 7.

While there are millions of matters that need to be reconsidered with regards to art history, this group exhibition will focus on the idea that art history is a concept without a cause just like the low representation rates of women at cultural institutions.

The exhibition centers around the "Why aren't there any Famous Women Artists?" article by art historian Linda Nochlin, curated by Ezgi Yıldız and Raşit Mutlu and features works of Can Akgümüş, Özgül Arslan, Nancy Atakan, Mehtap Baydu, Zeynep Beler, Fulya Çetin, Arzu Eş, Guerilla Girls, Sibel Kocakaya, Servet Koçyiğit, Gümüş Özdeş and Merve Üstünalp. When: Until May 7Where: UNIQ Gallery
