Turkish State Theaters to perform Dostoyevsky's 'Notes from Underground'

"Notes from Underground," one of the cult novels by Dostoyevsky, will be performed in Russia by the Turkish State Theaters. The directorate general of Turkish State Theaters stated that "Notes from Underground," by Dostoyevski, will be performed in St. Petersburg at the Raduga Youth Theater Festival. The Ankara State Theater will perform on the small stage of the A. Bryantsev Youth Theater on June 1. With the aim of finding new dramaturgical approaches for young actors and new stage managers working with modern theater forms, the festival has offered about 200 plays to date from different countries for Russian theater lovers.

Written by Dostoyevsky, the novel was translated into Turkish by Ergin Altay and dramatized and directed by Erdinç Doğan. "Notes from Underground" focuses on the ironic conflicts of an underground man who is busy with the deadlock of his own personality and the tragicomic conflicts of Mr. X with his friends, women and himself. Attending the "XX. Dostoyevski Theater Festival," which was organized in Veliky Novgorod and Staraya Russa cities last year, "Notes from Underground" won the "Acclaim Award."
