Akbank Sanat to host Yaşam Hancılar Band


Appreciated by musical authorities for his unique style that he introduced to Jazz standards, Yaşam Hancılar will meet with his fans at Akbank Sanat today. The musical maestro will perform at Akbank Sanat as part of his world tour to promote his new album "Strange Fish. Hancılar will offer his own repertoire that combines jazz and Brazilian standards with his own compositions. Performing with his own group, the Yaşam Hancılar Band, the artist will be accompanied by pianist Orestis Petrakis, contrabass player Marco Zenini and drummer Joan Terol Amigo. Born in Çanakkale, the vocalist and jazz guitarist grew up in Bolu province.

At the age of 18, he moved to Istanbul to start his engineering education at Istanbul Technical University. Hancılar founded his first jazz group, Jazz Mates, in 2006 and his jazz career started. He performed several concerts at so many national and international festivals including Istanbul and Maastricht. He earned the right to represent Turkey in Estonia after he was granted an award at the Nardis Young Jazz Vocal Contest. He opened his own music school at the Amsterdam Conservatoire after graduating from there in 2013. Hancılar mostly rendered Great American Songbook in his first album, "Here's To Life," giving concerts in several countries with his group.
