Knots and Ottoman galleys on display


Tile artist Almula İdil Kılıç's "Turkish Knot and Ottoman Galleys" exhibition will be opened on July 4 at the Istanbul Maritime Museum displaying approximately 100 works by the artist. Along with classic tile art works, Kılıç's works in which she transfers the patterns of traditional Turkish clothing to tiles, will also be displayed at the exhibition, open until July 9. Kılıç was first introduced to tile art through tile artists in Ankara and Kütahya and opened her first personal exhibition, "From Altai to Danube, from Baikal to Ural" in 2012.

She represented Turkey at the "International Spasskaya Handicraft Exhibition" organized in Tatarstan's Alabuga by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2012. Passing the exam of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, she gained the title of "Ministry of Culture's Traditional Handicraft Tile Artist" in 2016.
