Foreign investors made $16M net purchases in BIST


According to data released by Borsa Istanbul, foreign investors made $16 million in net purchases on the Borsa Istanbul Stock Exchange in May. The amount of net sales that foreign investors have made since the beginning of the year dropped to $289 million thanks to purchases in the last two months. Foreign investors who made net purchases in the first month of 2015 made net sales valued at $1.24 billion in total in February and March. After making $532 million net purchases in April, foreign investors also made net purchases in May. Thus, Borsa Istanbul closed two consecutive months with net purchases for the first time this year. In May, while the BIST 100 Index lost value by 1.15 percent despite net purchases by foreign investors, the dollar fell 0.43 percent against the lira decreasing from 2.67 to 2.66. When transactions of foreign investors in May are examined, it is observed that they purchased the shares of Turkish Airlines most with $46.6 million. It was followed by Akbank, Turkcell, Sabancı Holding and Kordsa, respectively. Of the shares they sold, the most belonged to İş Bankası with $49.4 million.
