Iran is in talks with Ziraat Bank to utilize certain services of the bank, said Customs and Trade Minister Nurettin Canikli. It was announced that Iran wanted to benefit from Turkey's state-owned Ziraat Bank's experiences, and it made an offer to Turkey to receive treasurership and consultancy services from Ziraat Bank to facilitate and improve the country's trade relations with other countries.Canikli shared the details of the offer: "Iran has already been working with [state-owned] Halkbank. Now they want to work with Ziraat Bank as well. They said they want to give 'the authorization of general treasurership' to Ziraat Bank." In addition to stressing that Ziraat Bank also engages in a treasurership for the Treasury, which Iran is aware of, Canikli said negotiations were ongoing and included the participation of officials from Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) within the framework of international rules.Canikli added that the relations would continue in a smoother way if the international trade embargo and sanctions were lifted. "It is very important for Turkey to be able to speak confidently about banking in Iran. This is in Turkey's favor at every step," Canikli said.
