Baklava, a dessert famous from Gaziantep, is no doubt the star of holiday celebrations in Turkey. With hours remaining until the beginning of Eid al-Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice), baklava makers in Gaziantep have been working tirelessly to keep up with orders. Although people in Turkey show great interest in baklava during holidays, Turks living abroad have also put in orders online so they can eat the best baklava in the world.

Ömer Faruk Çiftçi, a baklava maker from Gaziantep, spoke to Anadolu Agency (AA) and said both Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are the busiest time of year for baklava makers. "About 60 tons of baklava are consumed during holidays. We are working away to keep up with demand. We send our baklava not only to everywhere in Turkey, but also to 20 countries around the world, including Germany, Saudi Arabia and the U.S."

As people get ready to spend Eid al-Adha with their loved ones around the dinner table, it seems like baklava makers have to work a little harder for a while.
