World-renowned chefs head to Konya for food festival

The city of Konya is getting ready to host prominent chefs with the Ateşbaz-ı Veli Aşçı Dede Cuisine Culture Days coming up on Sept. 28 through Sept. 30.

Organized by Anadolu Halk Mutfağı and the Meram municipality, the event aims to honor the memory of the famous 12th century figure Ateşbaz-ı Veli, who is considered the first professional chef in history.

Recognized as an important figure in the history of gastronomy, Ateşbaz-ı Veli was not only praised for his skills in Anatolian cuisine, but also his spiritual merits. Throughout the three days of the gastronomy festival, both Turkish and Anatolian cuisine culture will be promoted through various events. Apart from presenting the best examples of Ottoman and Turkish cuisine, the festival will display delicious Seljuk cuisine as well. During the festival, world-renowned chefs will also come to Konya and present meals that blend European cuisine with the various tastes of Anatolia.
