With unique local tastes such as kumru, şevketi bostan and şambali, İzmir finally has its own gastronomy fest, kicking off on Oct. 21.

İzmir GastroFest will be taking place at the city's historic train station put the highlight on "migration" with panel sessions and workshops.

The one-day festival will offer its visitors a chance to taste a selection of menus from İzmir's most-visited restaurants. Experimental flavors will also be served by renowned chefs both from Turkey and abroad.

Apart from tastings, the festival will host documentary screenings, workshops and speeches by not only chefs, but also sociologists and gastronomy experts. American saxophone legend Ricky Ford will also team up with renowned pianist Ali Perret along with Can Kozlu, İmer Demirer and Matt Hall for an incredible concert.
