Turkish league leaders Beşiktaş finally lose

Turkish Spor Toto Super League leaders Beşiktaş lost their tag as the only unbeaten team in the leage after losing 3-2 to SAI Kayseri Erciyesspor at the Kadir Has Stadium on Monday. The league leaders also lost star player Gökhan Töre, who was shown red card on Monday. Töre's red card wasn't just harmful to the team on Monday night, the Turkish international will now be suspended for Beşiktaş's crunch game against archrivals Fenerbahçe.Töre was dismissed after he got into an argument with the fourth official and allegedly subjected him to colorful language. His case wasn't helped by SAI Kayseri Erciyesspor's coach Bülent Korkmaz vehement protestesations. Referee İlker Meral showed a straight red card to the midfielder, which could lead to a three-game suspension. Beşiktaş argued with the decision, accusing the referee of being influenced by Korkmaz's protestesations. Had Beşiktaş won the match, they would have had a significant advantage at the top of the table after their archrivals Galatasaray lost 4-0 against İstanbul Başakşehirspor on Saturday as well as keeping a one point advantage over their other archrivals Fenerbahçe, who won against Gençlerbirliği on Friday.Speaking to the press after the match, Töre said, "I said to the referee 'mind your own business'. He misunderstood me." Beşiktaş head coach Slaven Bilic said in a press conference "It was a shocking match. Although we were one man down, we were winning the match 2-1. We couldn't keep our advantage. We are very disappointed. We lost the match because of individual mistakes." He also added, "We aren't going to stress over the Fenerbahçe derby next week. We will win the match by preparing in the best way possible. Remember, we are still on the top of the Super League. Even if we lost today, we played a good game." Beşiktaş - aka the "Black Eagles" - suffered their first loss for the first time in the Spor Toto Super League this season but remain leaders with a total of 14 points.
