Atletico to unveil new academy with Turan and Simeone

Atletico Madrid club advisor Peter Kenyon has revealed that Arda Turan and Diego Simeone will both be present at the signing ceremony for clubs' new Turkish academy according to Eurosport RT. "The academy is the heart of Atletico Madrid, our aim is to keep producing the best players but most importantly we aim to develop good people," Kenyan said. "We currently train 2,000 kids in Madrid and it is a great honor to be part of this new project. Diego Simeona and Arda Turan will be here for the opening ceremony." The academy is set to be opened around late March and will be the first youth development center setup by Atletico in Turkey. The La Liga champions have been targeting the Turkish market following the success of Arda Turan. Turan has won almost every trophy in European and Spanish football since his arrival in Madrid from Galatasaray. The Turkish international is a popular player in Spain and Turkey where he has a huge following.Within the international expansion plan of the Club, Turkey is one of the markets of strategic interest to the Club, so Atletico Madrid named FK Başakşehir as a partner to collaborate with on a program aimed at training the youth. Miguel Angel Gil Marin, CEO, said that "Atletico Madrid is very well-known in Turkey thanks to Arda Turan, our best possible ambassador. With the creation of an academy where young Turkish talents can perfect their integral development as footballers with our model, we expect our image brand to continue to grow in this country."After reaching this agreement at a meeting attended by the top leaders of both entities, in the coming weeks, both parties will work on a specific plan to develop the project, following Atletico's designed model to implement Academies in foreign countries and based on the structure that the Turkish club already has. This project related to the training of young players will also serve as a strategic tool to generate a number of interesting business and commercial opportunities for both parties.
